ABOUT ME
I am a clinical counsellor with PACFA (Psychotherapy & Counselling Federation of Australia}. Over the past 15 years I have worked with people from all walks of life facing many different issues in their lives. With 6 years of tertiary study in mental health, I am equipped with a range of unique skills and experiences including working with emotion regulation, substance use, separation, relationships and life transitions.

I believe that healing and personal growth are not only possible, but brings deeper understanding and resilience! We all have issues we struggle with at times. I like being able to help people feel confident enough to look within themselves, their relationships, and to work towards the life they desire

I have a special interest in the concept of growth following recovery from trauma. I have an extensive experience working within the recovery model of treatment, which advocates for living one's best life alongside experiencing mental illness. I also have an interest in existential therapy which explores the fundamental aspects of human existence such as freedom, responsibility, death, free will, self-determination, and the search for meaning.

How I Can Help You
My approach is primarily person centred, humanistic and emotion focused. The format of our work is flexible whereby we work through the content you bring to each session, at a pace set by you. This can include struggles with everyday living, or a longer-term search for meaning, purpose or identity.

People often enter therapy not understanding how or why they feel or behave in certain ways. By listening, reflecting, interpreting underlying patterns and identifying different ways of relating to oneself you can move forward.

If you are seeking a more specialised treatment for anxiety and depression the evidence-based treatment is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) which I can offer. CBT is a type of more structured therapy that helps people learn how to identify and change unhelpful or problematic thought patterns that have a undesirable influence on their lives.

The best way to decide if I am the right therapist for you is to book an initial session or just get in touch for a quick chat.
